Recycling Household recycling is used extensively in Germany and non-compliance can result in fines. All bottles/glass, cans, plastic packaging, paper and bio-degradable items are recycled and must be placed in the correctly labelled bin and or taken to the nearest recycle centre. New Waste Disposal Procedure The local refuse disposal company, ZAK, are introducing a new procedure for the disposal of recyclable packaging in the Allgäu from 01 Jan 2010. Some of you may already have received green plastic sacks and a leaflet giving details of the new system. For those of you who's German is not quite up to it; basically, you have to put your recyclable packaging into the green sacks, such items as; Plastic bottles: Laundry and cleaning products, personal hygiene products. Plastic cartons and tubs: Yoghurt, butter, margarine and ice cream etc. Cellophane: Pasta packaging, crisp packets, carrier bags etc. Other plastic packaging: Chocolates packaging, fruit nets, pre-formed polystyrene foam packaging. Drink Cartons: Milk and juice cartons. |
